Family Bible Study....AGAIN!

Thank you so much to those that came to the very first Family Bible Study and the beginning of Titus Ministries.  You all are awesome and your support means the world.  With prayer and immediate encouragement from very kind people, it looks like this will be a weekly thing!  If you are hungry for the Word, eager to pray with other believers IN-PERSON (delete Zoom), then this is for you!

This past Sunday the 24th we studied through most of Luke chapter 12, and had great discussion about Scripture and current events and I think it left us all excited to do it again.  We had a park ranger come up to us to let us know that that the “picnic area was closed” (which is insane considering the grass a few feet away would have been fine to sit in) but at least he was respectful and clear that he was just giving us information.  We stayed put and finished our study.

Please join us again this coming Sunday, May 31st at San Gorgonio Park in San Clemente at 10:30am!

Write to Your Elected Officials!

One of the most difficult commands given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ is found in Matthew 5:44:  "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." I don't think there's anyone that doesn't struggle with this.

The Church in the United States is under the worst oppression it has ever seen, and our elected officials are often egomaniacal tyrants that seek total control of the population.  It is easy to desire bad things to happen to these people, but what would be the most ideal outcome for them?  Conversion of course!  Pray for our oppressors that they would find Christ and understand how essential the Church is.

We can pray for them, and we can also e-mail them about their treason against the people, against the Constitution, and their role in the numerous suicides, closed businesses, domestic violence cases, alcohol/drug abuse and so on.  Let them know that "we the people" will not tolerate this horrific attack on our freedoms and way of life.

It's very easy to e-mail city council members, mayors, county supervisors etc.  Keep your e-mail professional, direct, and brief.  Here's just a few official sites that I quickly found for you to send e-mails to your elected officials:

Ravi Zacharias 1946 - 2020

Ravi Zacharias went to be with the Lord today, May 19th after a battle with a rare cancer.  While I didn't follow his work very closely, it was clear that he had tremendous influence and provided brilliant apologetics for the Faith.  He dedicated his life to God and created a huge international ministry dedicated to the intellectual defense of the Christian Faith.

He was also a prolific author and many of his works were best-sellers.  Check them out here:

Family Bible Study at San Gorgonio Park, San Clemente

Announcement:  There will be a family fellowship and Bible study gathering this coming Sunday, May 24 at 10:30am!  The location will be San Gorgonio Park in San Clemente.

It's super important for children (and adults) to socialize so hopefully there is a big turn out.  This will be very casual so just come as you are and maybe bring something to sit on.  Bible study will likely only be around 30 minutes and then we can all stay as long as we like and enjoy hanging out.

See you there!

6 Day Creation

One of the great Biblical truths I affirm is that the universe and all things in it were created in six 24-hour periods (days) about 6,000 years ago (around 4,000 B.C.).  We know the approximate date of creation by following the detailed genealogies given to us in the Bible, and we know how long creation took from the accounts in Genesis 1 & 2 as well as Exodus 20:11.

It's unsurprising that non-believers reject this in order to cling to their blind faith in atheism and billions of years.  This is in spite of the mountains of scientific data that reject even the possibility of abiogenesis, macro-evolution, and billions of years.  However, is it rational for Christians to accept the openly secular naturalistic idea of deep time and molecules-to-man evolution?

Of course not, and I'll tell you why.  First of all, as I mentioned above, the Bible makes it clear that all things were created in 6 literal days.  Just like Jonah was in the belly of the whale for 3 days, and Jesus Christ was in the tomb 3 days, the universe was created in 6 days.  It's irrational and inconsistent for Christians to accept some time periods in the Bible but reject others.

Jesus makes it clear that Adam & Eve were "in the beginning" and didn't arise after millions of years when He said in Mark 10:6, "But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female" (which also debunks the new absurd idea that there are "multiple genders").

Also, evolution requires death upon death for ages but before Adam & Eve (yes, real literal people) the Bible makes it clear that there was no death.  Romans 5:12 says, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned."

Finally, not only is there no room anywhere in the Bible for evolution and billions of years, there is no scientific data to support it either.  Absolutely none.

I realize this is a very short post on a very lengthly topic, but I'll tackle individual claims and arguments in future posts.  For now, please check out these great resources on the issue:

Forced Vaccinations

The topic of vaccines is hotly debated and an issue people are very divided on.  The reality is that huge money is at stake with all pharmaceutical drugs, and forced vaccinations would mean tremendous profits for the suppliers.  The truth is that the flu is more deadly with a vaccine than COVID-19 is without one!

The first ever peer-reviewed study of vaccinated vs. unvaccinated children shows that vaccinated kids have a 470% increase in autism.

With the CoronaHoax in full swing, BigPharma and their investors are heavily pushing mandatory vaccinations.  This is outrageous, and possibly the biggest assault against freedom in American history.

The mayor of Los Angeles said the city won't fully open until there is a vaccine, and the governor of  the state of Washington said that "COVID-Test-Deniers Will Not Be Allowed To Leave Home To Get Groceries."

Also, the company ApiJect was awarded $138 million to produce 500 million filled syringes with COVID vaccine plus RFID microchips to track people.

Now, I'm not saying that the Mark of the Beast detailed in Revelation 13 is coming soon....but it sure looks a lot like the Mark of the Beast is coming soon!

Here's a segment of a sermon by Pastor Chuck Baldwin on the issue of forced vaccinations:

Babylon Bee & Tyrant Newsom

The Babylon Bee is a hilarious Christian news satire website (in case you didn't already know), and they've had some great headlines recently such as the one below.  This goes along with my posts on "Submission to Authority & Romans 13" and "Should Christians Resist Tyranny?"

The Babylon Bee is making the same point that I've made.  If the government told Christians to throw away their Bibles, they would in order to be obedient to man rather than God.  It's truly a sad state of Christendom here in the United States in many ways.

Churches need to open up united as soon as possible--right now--and let people worship God together and pray together as congregations.  If this doesn't happen soon, our anti-Christian government will place permanent restrictions on churches and even Bible study groups.  We cannot allow that.

Should Christians Resist Tyranny?

In my other post discussing Submission to Authority & Romans 13 I briefly discussed the Christian role living under secular government.  In short, Christians should fear God and obey His commands rather than submit to anti-Christian demands of an unbelieving and wicked government authority.  In this post I'll answer the question of actively resisting tyranny.

So should Christians actively resist tyranny specifically as it relates to California's wicked governor Newsom's unconstitutional orders?  Not only should Christians be standing up for their right to attend church and worship God with fellow believers, they should be boldly doing it as a unified front.  It is a bizarre 20th Century American phenomenon for Christians to be so passive and willing to compromise their faith because of government demands.

In fact, if anyone should be protesting and writing letters to state officials it should be Christians that want to follow God rather than men, whose conviction compels them to stand up for righteousness and against evil.

How many people come to know Christ through churches?  How many people get baptized in churches?  The church is absolutely essential to spreading the gospel and saving souls for Jesus Christ.

And this is just what we're seeing.  At the protests I have been to with my "Church is Essential" sign, most of the people there are Christians.  Prayer huddles have started happening regularly at Huntington Beach as well.

Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
- Psalm 97:10

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
- Proverbs 8:13

We see tyranny and oppression resisted throughout the Bible.  Some notable examples:
  • Moses and the Egyptian - Exodus 2:11-12
  • The midwives in Egypt - Exodus 1:17
  • Esther going before the King - Esther 4:14
  • Rahab and the spies - Joshua 2:15-16
  • Jesus' preaching and healing throughout the Gospels
  • Spreading the Gospel - Acts 4:18-19; Acts 5:29
  • Samson and the Philistines - Judges 14-16

In all of the above example (there are many more) Scripture praises the people for doing the right thing before God.

Which Bible Translation is Best?

This is a common question that many people have, and it's a very important one.  The difficult part in answering this is considering what a person means by “best.” Personally, for serious study, I want the most accurate and as true to the original text as possible.  This means many translations are out since a lot of them are paraphrases and not actual translations.  These paraphrase Bibles like the NLT, The Message, The Passion Translation, and others are really just Bible mixed with translators commentary and personal perspectives of the text.  In other words, they are not translations of the Holy Word of God.

Here is my list of the top four most accurate English bible translations:
  1. The Authorized (King James) Version
  2. NASB (the 1995 edition specifically)
  3. The English Revised Version of 1885 (RV)
  4. American Standard Version of 1901
And my list of the least accurate translations:
  1. The Message
  2. The Living Bible
  3. the New Living Translation (NLT)
  4. The Passion Translation
It's amazing that there are so many English Bible translations out there, and sadly a lot of the reason for that is greed.  Publishers want to market a new translation and sell it.

Check out some biographies of the KJV translators here: https://kingjamesbibletranslators.org/bios/ Many of these men were geniuses and extremely well educated in Biblical languages, as well as very devoted to the Faith.

In future posts I'll look in-depth at specific translations.

Host a Bible Study

In this time of increasing oppression for Christians, it is more important than ever to have regular home Bible studies.  Invite people over for an hour or so and pray and study scripture together.  Not everyone you invite will come, since many Christians sadly live in media-induced fear, but that's to be expected.

It is also not necessary to "study" scripture if you don't feel comfortable teaching; you can just read a passage and discuss.  The Bible is full of such amazing depth that it invokes conversation and inquiry all by itself.  Even if you are new to Christianity, you should offer to host a Bible study and hopefully get someone more experienced in scripture to help read through it.

Whether you plan to study or just read, plan what section of scripture you'll look at and read through it before hand.  Read some commentary on it so you know what's going on in that particular passage.

Here's some tips for a home Bible study:
  • Set a time frame and stick to it
  • Don't get caught up in preparing snacks; this is Bible study
  • Keep the focus on the Bible, not gossip
  • Have pen and paper available to write down questions that you can look up later
  • Don't get stuck on a difficult subject; it's ok to just move on
  • Pray - Never neglect prayer
  • Consider child care and make arrangements, but children should not be in a place where they can be a distraction

Book Review: The Foundation of Augustinian-Calvinism by Ken Wilson

This is my first book review but I plan to do many more in future posts.  As the title states, this is a review of Ken Wilson's work, The Foundation of Augustinian-Calvinism.  From my understanding this is an abridgment of his doctoral dissertation.  The book is a fairly quick read and I sort of wish he had just published his full dissertation instead, though I'm sure it's available somewhere.

To just lay it out there, the book is very good and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the history of what Dr. Wilson calls Divine Unilateral Predetermination of Individuals's Eternal Destinies (DUPIED).  This is a more specific title than what we usually just call predetermined salvation.

Dr. Wilson explains the history of the strange idea that people are forced into Heaven or Hell before they are born without allowing them any free-will in the matter at all.  This is a belief of Calvinism or "reformed theology." The book explains where this idea came from and when it first appeared in Christian writings.  It isn't very surprising (though the book's detailed analysis of it is very interesting) to read that Calvinistic ideas didn't appear until about 400 years after Christ's resurrection!  Until that time, there had been a reasonable and Biblical understanding of soteriology.

After Augustine's conversion to Christianity, he initially (several decades I believe) defended the traditional view of salvation by grace through faith to whosoever would believe on the Lord Jesus Christ against pagan and heretical views that rejected any kind of free-will.  Later on, after 400 A.D., Augustine switched his stance and began agreeing with the pagans and heretics on their soteriological views!  Thus, the pagan view that rejected free-will entered Christianity.

Thus we can see that the popular theological position known today as Calvinism is strictly unbiblical and heretical.  It has no place in our Church today.  See https://soteriology101.com/ for more info on this.

One gripe I have with this book, and with Dr. Wilson, is that for some reason he insists on using "BCE" and "CE" when describing dates rather than the Christ-centered and traditional B.C./A.D.  The terms BCE & CE are entirely secular and seek to erase Christ from history.  Before Christ and Anno Domini are the correct terms to use.  Ironically enough, even though BCE/CE attempt to remove Christ from discussion, the dates still center around His birth!

Submission to Authority & Romans 13

Romans chapter 13 and 1st Peter 2:13-14 are often used out of context by misinformed Christians to suggest that we should submit unconditionally to every decree of any government.  This is clearly false both logically and exegetically, but has come up recently regarding the protests by largely Christians groups of people against governor Newsom's tyranny.

This topic deserves a very thorough undertaking, but I'll be brief for now and possibly post on this again once this blog has billions of daily hits :)

First, notice in both Romans 13 and 1 Peter 2, that the role of secular government is explained in similar wording.

In Romans 13:3 we have, "For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same."

1 Peter 2:14 says, "Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well."

Therefore we see that the role of government (which I think we all intuitively understand) is to judge righteously, punish evil, and also to reward good.  Makes sense right?

Now ask yourself if that describes the United States, the country that butchers nearly a million unborn babies every year?  Did you know your tax dollars support this atrocity?

California's tyrant governor has demanded that Orange County's beaches be shut down, small businesses close their doors, and Christians are not allowed to attend church and worship God as the Bible commands us to do.  This is not freedom, and this is not punishment of evil and rewarding of good.  However, it's sad to say that many Christians would just throw away their Bible if the government made it illegal to own one.  Some out of fear, and some because of a gross misunderstanding of the Bible's instruction regarding government.

According to some Christians, if Stalin ordered the execution of a thousand believers, they think it would be the right thing to do to obey such an order (not joking, they really think that).
But in the Bible we see the apostles suffering constant persecution for following the commands of Christ!

Regarding Acts 5:29, brilliant Bible commentator Adam Clarke said, "The same answer they gave before, Acts 4:19, founded on the same reason, which still stood good. We have received our commission from God; we dare not lay it down at the desire or command of men [emphasis added]."

Christians:  Do not let tyrant governor Newsom to dictate when and how you worship the Lord God.
Church is essential.

May Day in California!

Friday, May 1st was a great day in California as thousands of Christians and patriots protested against the vile tyranny of governor Newsom.  There were demonstrations in numerous cities all over California and several in Orange County, most notably Huntington Beach!  Even more protests occurred today in various cities, and these protests are encouraging people in other cities to start protests as well.

Remember that it is a Biblical command to gather together in Christian fellowship and nothing should prevent that, especially a minor virus that is less dangerous than the flu

Please try and participate in any protests near you, and fight to keep our freedom to worship Almighty God together.

Also during this time, please do not forget to tithe.  Many churches I am familiar with in South Orange County have really stepped up their game to provide online services and connect with their congregation.  It would be terribly tragic if ANY church had to shut down because of government tyranny and a lack of tithing.

"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

The Major Doctrines

Before I get too far into this blog, I want to first establish the major doctrines I affirm.  First of all, it must be said that the Bible is the ultimate final authority for all doctrines and truths of the Christian Faith (Sola Scriptura).  Our job as Christians is to read the Bible, understand it, and submit to it.  There are of course more doctrines that are critical to the Christian Faith (such as the virgin birth), and the points below could be elaborated on, but I'll get to all that in future blog posts.
  • The Bible was written by men through direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit.  As 2 Timothy 3:16 states, all scripture is θεόπνευστος - or, "God-breathed." Therefore the Word of God is perfect, and its teachings are true for all people and all generations.
  • The Trinity doctrine affirms that the Godhead is three-in-one.  There is one God, but three "persons" of God:  God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.  This is clearly taught through the pages of Scripture.  There is no other god besides the one living God of the Bible.
  • Mankind was created in the image of God (imago Dei) to live forever in fellowship with God.  Through the sin of Adam, all mankind was separated from God and can only be made right with Him through putting their faith in Jesus Christ who died on our behalf that we might be made righteous through Him.
  • Salvation is only available through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and is freely offered to all mankind.  The Bible is clear that Jesus Christ died for all and that by putting our faith in Him we will be saved by the grace of God.  Nobody is able to earn their way to Heaven by good works.
  • Eternity exists for every single person.  Every human has a soul that will either live in Heaven in the glorious presence of God, or if they reject Christ as Lord and Savior, they will spend eternity in the Lake of Fire.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
- Matthew 7:13-14
